Fishing in Georgetown, Colorado
This is a great place to bring the family, set down a chair by the side of the lake an cast your line while taking in the view. Here are
a few tips and rules about fishing in Georgetown.
- You can buy a license in Downieville at the Conoco station, cost of a license is $26 for residents, $56 per year for non-resident, daily licenses are available also.
- You must have a license if you are 16 or older.
- What kind of fish are caught here? Brown, Rainbow and Brooke trout. They must be 8 inches in length to keep, please wet your hands before
touching a fish and return small fish to the water quickly so they can grow to be keepers!
- The limit on trout is 4 per adult, 2 per child
- You can use rafts, float tubes and kyaks on the lake but nothing moterized.
- You can fish from all sides of the lake, take care near the dam and watch all postings.
- You can fish with bait and artificial lures and flys.

Wildlife in Georgetown, Colorado
Large game like Deer, Elk and the famous Big Horn Sheep as well as chipmunks (watch your snacks) are abundant in this wilderness playground.
The wildlife viewing station is located next to the lake and offers telescopes for a small fee.

Guanella Pass Scenic & Historic Byway
The road begins in Georgetown and ends in the Town of Grant. Be alert for deer and other critters on the road.
After thunderstorms the road can be muddy and sections are washboard, this is a great road for SUV type vehicles and motorcycles. It's
passable by car but it's not paved all the way.
